Air Spring Introduction

Air springs have been used in heavy duty vehicle suspension systems for nearly a century, where they have been able to provide usefulness by taking advantage of the compressed air required for vehicle braking systems. Air springs have provided a two-fold advantage over mechanical leaf- or coil-springs. One advantage with air suspension is the extra comfort provided by being able to vary the air pressure inside the spring, which changes the spring rate, and therefore, ride quality. Additionally, because variable control over air pressure adjusts the deck or trailer height, aligning loading docks to the level of the deck is possible when dock plates are unavailable.

1. Good isolation and shock-absorbing capacity. Air springs can provide the best isolation and shock-absorbing effect that cannot be matched by any other shock-absorbing element. A lower natural frequency can be provided by attaching an external gas storage device. 2. Precise height control air spring adjusts the operating height through internal air pressure. Air springs do not create static friction with other components. Automatically adjusting system pressure ensures stable operating height in the event of changes in load-bearing capacity. 3. The isolation efficiency is stable and the independent load-bearing and shock-absorbing characteristics of the air spring are unique. The natural frequency of the system will not change much with the load. Therefore, the same air spring can be used at each mounting point on equipment with uneven loads to absorb shock. 4. Effectively prevent resonance. The air spring damping system can be designed with two natural frequencies, so resonance can be prevented by switching the natural frequencies. 5. Good horizontal stability The air spring has good horizontal stability. 6. Effectively reduce noise. The air spring can reduce structural transmission noise. Since it does not have the spring vibration produced in ordinary coil springs, it does not produce noise by itself.
